Flash Player and mProjector

When building an mProjector application you can choose whether or not you want to include a Flash player as part of your executable file. By default mProjector does NOT include the Flash player in an application.

In the case where you do NOT include a player, the first time your application runs it will attempt to copy the end user's Flash player to it's "working" directory and subsequently use the copied player when executing. If the Flash player is not found, the user will be given the option to download a player from Adobe.com.

On Windows the Flash player is located in "C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash" and will be named something like Flash9.ocx. On the Mac the Flash player is located in "/Library/Internet Plugins/" and is called Flash Player.plugin. In both cases the name and location of the player is likely to change.

To include a Flash player in your application, click to the Publish tab, check the "Include Player" box, and select a Flash player. mProjector ships with Flash 8 and Flash 9 players.

Macintosh

mProjector Macintosh ships with versions 8r27 and 9r45 of the Flash player. These players are both universal (they work on both traditional PowerPC macs and Intel macs). Flash Player 9r45 is the most stable and best performing choice. It adds about 3.5 MB to a zipped mProjector application. Flash Player 8r27 is stable with most applications and adds 1.9MB.

Mac OS X comes with a Flash player pre-installed. Mac OS X 10.4 and later include at least the Flash 8 plugin - which is the minimum requirement for an mProjector application.

Updating mProjector's Flash Players

To add a new Flash player as a choice in mProjector, copy the Flash player file into mProjector's Flash Player folder next to mProjector. On Windows, this location will be something like"C:/Programs Folder/ScreenTime Media/mProjector 3/Flash Players/Win/”.On the Mac, this location will be something like"/Applications/mProjector 3/Flash Players/Mac/”.

Usually you will want to add a newer player, but you can download older (and smaller) players here:

After you restart mProjector your new player will appear in the player inclusion pop-up menu.
