Creating A Dynamic Screen Saver

ScreenTime's STF.checkNetConnection() and STF.downloadFile() commands enable you to take full advantage of the Internet, Flash and dynamic content with:

• STF.downloadFile() downloads content (XML, images, text files) to a location on the computer you control -- the content doesn't get cleared when the cache is deleted.
• STF.checkNetConnection() verifies the user's connection status. If the user doesn't have a connection you can play in "offline" mode.

The Basic Connected Saver is simple example of a screen saver that plays dynamic content.

Handling Personal Firewall Software

One thing to be aware of in creating a connected Windows screen saver is that personal or company firewall software may need to be trained to allow the saver to make its connection. See Handling Firewalls for more information.
